ALERT: GREEN RIVER LAKES ROAD CLOSURE
September is my favorite month of the year, and this September has certainly lived up to my expectations. The weather has been great with a bit of precipitation, cold nights, and mild daytime temperatures. The fishing has been amazing with a lot of quality fish feeling aggressive and eager to eat. Streamer fishing has been producing the biggest fish lately, but I would not give up on the dry dropper setup during the warmest part of the day. The surface activity has slowed down, but we are still seeing a few bugs hatching once the temperature warms up a bit in the morning, so if you are determined to headhunt, it is still possible. It looks like we are expecting some warmer days later in the week and into the weekend, so this might be a good time to get some late-season dry fly fishing in. It's starting to feel like wader weather out there, and we have a great selection of waders and boots at the fly shop, as well as some great fall deals happening, so swing by and get geared up for some serious fall fishing. The fly shop will be open every day until the end of October. Don't forget that cast and blast trips start this weekend, and we have limited availability, so give us a call to get a trip reserved as soon as possible.

Green River
The Green has been fishing really well and is still in prime wading condition. Dry droppers have still been working well in deep slots and feeding lanes, but the majority of our success has been on subsurface bugs. Getting down as far as you can in the deep holes with a streamer or indicator rig has been the best way to find larger fish. We have seen some midges, BWOs, and caddis around during the day, but not much for surface action. Look for fish in the buckets and along the foam lines.

Flies to try
Batman, Tung Tied, Backflop Jig
New Fork River
New Fork has been really good, but it's getting pretty low. Streamer fishing has been hot on the New Fork, and we are still seeing some surface action on BWOs and caddis. Dry droppers are still getting a lot of fish to move where riffles drop into deeper water. Look for fish feeding on the surface along slow seams and near eddies. Streamers down deep have been producing some really big fish.

Seedskadee
Flows are a bit low below Fontenelle Dam, and the moss and grass have really built up in the slower sections, but the weather has been nice, the water has been cool, and the fishing has been pretty good. We have been seeing BWOs and caddis during the warmer parts of the day, but not much surface feeding. Streamers and nymphs have both been pretty productive. On clear, bright days, getting nymphs down deep has worked the best. With the greenish tint in the water right now, you can get away with larger nymphs. When there is cloud cover, streamer fishing has been very effective and produced some really nice fish. Concentrate on areas with more flow where the vegetation has not built up as much.
