Outlook
Fall has certainly kicked in around Pinedale, and we are enjoying every bit of it. Water is a little skinny, but the cold nights and cool days have created some really nice conditions. Streamer and nymph activity has really started to pick up, and we are still seeing some dry fly activity as the day warms up. Looks like we are expecting some precipitation in the next couple of days as we head into the weekend, so we may see a bump in flows and lower water clarity if any tribs blow out. It would be a good idea to have large streamers and larger nymphs like worms on hand if you do run into cloudy water conditions. Also, with the Kokanee entering the rivers, hot head flies are going to be a good option. Here in the shop, we have some really great layering and outerwear gear for the cold mornings and inclement fall weather, so swing by and get your fall layering system dialed in.

Recent Reports
Green River
The Green is in great shape. In the upper sections, we are seeing way less bug activity, but it is in excellent wading condition, and fishing subsurface is producing some nice fish. Lower sections are fishing right now too. We have been exploring some areas that we left alone during the heat of the summer and having some pretty good success. Look for fish to continue to move away from swifter water into tailouts and slower feeding lanes during colder parts of the day.

Flies to try
Batman, Thrasher, Brain Damage
New Fork River
The New Fork has really improved and should really start to fire here pretty soon. Nymphing and streamer fishing have been the most productive, but we are seeing good numbers of BWOs and tricos, so look for fish eating small mayflies in the softer water. We are seeing a lot of the fish sitting back in the holes, but keep an eye out for fish starting to lay up in some of the flatter sections. Foam bugs are still getting some looks mostly later in the day.

Flies to try
Peach Fuzz, Parachute Trico, Goldie
Seedskadee
Cooler conditions have really helped this area. Fishing has been decent recently and should continue to improve. Subsurface activity has been the most productive with sow bugs and crayfish patterns both producing fish, as well as small mayfly patterns and midges. Expect streamer fishing to improve with the consistent fall weather. Look for fish to stack up below riffles and in feeding lanes with a bit of flow.
