ALERT: FIRE NEAR GREEN RIVER LAKES
It is starting to look like fall out there, and the crisp, cool days are going to make for some great fishing opportunities. With the overcast days coming up, streamer fishing should continue to pick up and get some of those bigger fish moving out of the deeper slots. We have seen some rain, cloud cover and cooler nights recently and should continue to see our weather conditions tip more in our favor for the future as well. Excitingly, we are still seeing action on slim profile terrestrials and small tactical nymphs as well when the water is clear. We still have guides available to make for great days on the water this fall, and with duck season fast approaching, remember if you find yourselves struggling between your fly rod and shotgun, our Cast n’ Blast trips begin soon and are currently booking. Give our shop a call and don’t miss out on probably the most underrated fishing time of the year—a special thanks to our shop associate, Easton, for his contributions to the fishing report this week. Easton will be leaving us at the end of the month, so swing by the shop and talk to him about some of his favorite flies and gear for fall before he leaves.

Green River
The Green is still producing very well for us. Warren Bridge is still our best wading option, and we have seen some very good fish being pulled out of there. The sections below Daniel are still floatable and have been making for some rewarding days as well. We have been seeing the majority of fish being pulled out with slim-profile terrestrials with tactical droppers. Look for fish piled up deep in runs and riffles. Pay special attention to seams and feeding lanes with some depth and a bit of foam on the surface. Fish are very actively feeding in these areas and are reluctant to sit in areas where they are exposed. Don’t shy away from working a streamer through the water columns as well. The river above the Union Pass Bridge is still closed due to the Dollar Lake wildfire.

New Fork River
The New Fork has stayed a reliable option for us. We are still finding success with all techniques. We are at the tail end of bug season, but there’s still a good chance of catching Trico’s and BWO’s hatches popping. Single dries, tactical nymphs, and streamers have been the name of the game as of late. The fish are still holding steady in those deeper runs and pools. The fish have started to get more opportunistic at the chance at a well-presented drift and more reactive to streamers ripping by. With the season progressing into fall, we should continue to see excellent days on the New Fork.

Seedskadee
Below Fontenenelle dam has upheld its reputation well this season. With the cooler weather, we are starting to see the algae being pushed out and some really quality fish being caught. The Kokanee spawn is kicking off, and we are seeing spawning Kokanee running upriver already. Streamer season is starting to become really productive at targeting those trophy trout that this section is known for. Nymphing small scuds and egg patterns is proving effective as well. A good presentation is key in this section, but the fish are eating and becoming more active, which in turn is making for some really fun days on the water.
