Outlook
Fall is upon us, which means cool nights, brown trout spawn and streamer fishing. It has been an unusually warm start to autumn, and we have enjoyed every minute of it. Even though lows have been in the high 20s to low 30s, daytime temps have averaged around 70 degrees for the high. Brown trout all around are mostly still staging for the spawn, but we have seen plenty of active redds so be mindful of that.

Recent Reports
Green River
The Green near Pinedale has been fishing well, especially lower. The Green is a bit lower than usual, but the streamer fishing has been good, so try to find more water below Warren Bridge. Streamers and nymphs have been the most productive, but with the warmer temps, the occasional trico hatch has been happening as well.
CFS
Flies to try
Goldie, Twenty Incher, Guide Winna Spinna
New Fork River
The New Fork has also been fishing well, especially in its lower reaches. More browns seem to be spawning on the New Fork so be careful of where you walk and fish. Similarly to the Green River, streamers are the name of the game, especially if big trout is what you are after. Throwing baby brown and small sculpin patterns into deep trenches and runs is the ticket.

Flies to try
Rusty Trombone, Bank Robber Sculpin, JJ Special
Seedskadee
The Green below Fontenelle has plenty of actively feeding fish, but the moss issue that plagues us every fall is no different this year. While fishing can be productive, a bit of patience is key, as dodging moss is almost unavoidable. Nymphing and dry dropper methods have proven successful, especially in deeper runs with less vegetation.
CFS
Flies to try
WD-50, Magma Mycis, Crossfit Midge
Bighorn River
The Bighorn River has been having an exceptional fall with plenty of fish rising all throughout the day, just beware of a similar moss issue. In the morning you can expect tricos and PMD’s, and finish the day using hopper dropper methods. Smaller riffles and runs have been producing quite well lately, so shift focus to nervous water and away from the deepest pools.

Flies to try
Clipped Head Hopper, Lucent Perdigon, Burchill Midge
