NOTICE: BROWN TROUT SPAWN. AVOID DISTURBING REDDS AND REPRODUCING FISH.
As we inch closer and closer to winter, more and more browns are spending time on their beds. Please be careful where you cast and watch your step; the browns that take part in the yearly spawn are vital to the survival of our fishery. With that being said, most browns are still staging and not quite spawning yet, so fishing has still been quite good. Streamers and nymphs are still the primary choices on the Green and New Fork Rivers, and dry fly fishing is still decent on the Bighorn.

Recent Reports
Green River
The Green near Warren Bridge and below is low and bony, but in the deeper holes, browns are staging for spawn, and rainbows are waiting on food coming off the redds in the coming weeks. Streamers have been decent, but dragging a nymph rig along the bottom of the deeper holes has been working great.
CFS
Flies to try
Zonker, Galloup’s Jig BWO, Nemec Stone
New Fork River
The New Fork has more actively spawning fish spread out in the shallows of the river, but in the deep holes, streamer tactics have been very productive. Fast stripping with a short sink tip has been good, so the trout don’t have a chance to study the fly with the low, clear water. Some nymph fishing also has its place, especially with the high sun we have seen this past week.

Flies to try
Cactus Wooly, McCune’s Sculpin, Baby Gonga
Seedskadee
The Green below Fontenelle has finally seen a dramatic improvement in moss presence and feels fully fishable again. The browns are behind on their spawn with warmer temperatures further south, but keep an eye out. There is a possibility for dry fly activity, but most eager hits will likely come from subsurface.
CFS
Flies to try
Chubby Chernobyl, Ray Charles, Manhattan Midge
Bighorn River
The Bighorn has had an incredible and long dry fly season this year and doesn’t show signs of stopping. BWO’s and PMD’s are still hatching on most days, with blue wings on cloudy days and duns on sunny days. There is a possibility of some mahoganies beginning soon, as they are popping up in some similar nearby fisheries.
CFS
Flies to try
Klinkhammer Mahogany, PMD Parachute, GWS Olive
