Outlook
While the Green and New Fork Rivers rise steadily with warmer temperatures, word on the street is that the Bighorn River will see significant drops in water levels for the first time in weeks very soon. Not much has changed below Fontenelle reservoir in terms of flows and clarity, unfortunately. Still, everything above has risen at a healthy rate, and fish haven’t been stunned by rapid increases yet. At this point, all valley-level snow has melted off, but full-blown runoff hasn’t quite begun.

Recent Reports
Green River
The Green has seen a slow but healthy rise in water levels over the last week, but the clarity has stayed the same, if not improved, in certain places. The water is cold, so there still isn’t much for top-water fishing, but dredging nymphs and slow streamer techniques have been working well for larger fish.
CFS
Flies to try
Goldie, Rubber Legs, Lite-Brite Perdigon
New Fork River
The New Fork has spiked significantly in the last few days, but most of that is coming from the larger tributaries further south on the river. The river near Pinedale is still fishable on foot but is still up a bit, so be cautious. There have been reports of a few midges on top, but not much looking up yet.
CFS
Flies to try
Duracell, CBO Nymph, Mini-Dungeon
Seedskadee
Unfortunately, the Green below Fontenelle hasn’t improved in clarity, and flows have spiked once again due to a preemptive expulsion of water from the reservoir. It seems likely to drop soon, but for now, it is a tough fishery. Stick to soft edges and slow-moving runs, fishing nymphs as deep as they can go.
CFS
Flies to try
Hot Spot Scud, Tung Jig Fauci, Twisted Worm
Bighorn River
The Bighorn River is on the edge of a major drop in CFS over the next few days, which should do wonders for the quality of fishing. Dry fly fishing is likely to improve if the water coming from the dam is allowed to warm up more than it has lately, and fish will be able to hold in more fishable and easily accessible water. Call us for updates on the river this week as we find out more!

Flies to try
BWO Parachute, Burchell Midge, WD-40
