Outlook
Welcome to the 2026 season. We have had a strong start to the year, and we are excited to see what 2026 has to offer. The shop is currently open Thursday through Sunday. We are doing free fly tying nights every Thursday in February and March. Fishing has been pretty good, and people are starting to get excited about summer trips. If you are thinking of taking a guided trip with us this coming season, make sure you get a trip on the books with us as soon as possible. Peak season trips will fill up before too long, and you don't want to miss out. Like many places in the Rockies, it has been a warm and dry winter here in Pinedale. We do, however, have reason to be more optimistic than many other areas because the snow that we have received at higher elevations has accumulated really well. Also on the positive side, winter fishing has been some of the best I have experienced. Bug activity has been good, fish are not super lethargic, and fishing days have been longer because the weather has been more tolerable. We expect that we will get an early start on spring fishing this year, so if you are itching to do some fishing and want to get out on the water before the hustle and bustle of summer, give us a shout and we can help you get going early this year. We look forward to seeing everyone this coming season.

New Fork River
The lower New Fork is still mostly frozen over, but you can find some open water closer to town. In the areas where there is enough open water, the fishing has been good. Midges, small stonefly nymphs, and small streamers have all produced nice fish. Fish are mostly hanging out in deep holes and tailouts, and are moving around a bit as the temperature warms up during the day. Look for fish moving on to shallower flats and into more active feeding lanes during the warmer part of the day.

Seedskadee
This is where the majority of the fishing opportunity is right now. Fishing below Fontenelle Dam has been good, with anglers catching both good size and numbers of fish. Sow bugs are plentiful down there right now. When I was there last week, I flipped a couple of rocks and they were loaded with sow bugs. Some big ones, too. Midges are also fishing really well right now. Mostly nymphing, but you will see some adult midges flying around on warmer days. Streamer fishing has been slower, but still worth a shot and one of your best chances for really big fish. We have seen a lot of fish move up into faster water near drop-offs to feed as temperatures warm up, and sit in deeper water when temperatures drop. Getting your flies as deep as possible will produce the most fish, and don't be afraid to size up a bit on your sow bugs.
