ALERT: FIRE NEAR GREEN RIVER LAKES
Well, we have certainly hit some speed bumps this week, but it hasn't done much to dampen our spirits or the fishing. The wildfire near Dollar Lake has restricted access to a large portion of the upper Green. While unfortunate, it certainly has not put an end to fishing here in Pinedale for the season. We have experienced some smoke in the morning that has mostly cleared out by late morning once the breeze picks up a bit. On the positive side, there are some cool cloudy days in the forecast with the possibility of some moisture, which will hopefully help tamp down the fire and should make for some pretty good fishing conditions. With that cooler, cloudy weather ahead, watch for BWO hatches and get those streamer rods ready. The current rainfall estimates may bump up water levels a bit this weekend, which could decrease water clarity. If this happens, larger bugs such as streamers, worms, and mops will be good options. We still have good guide availability for the fall season, so if big flies, big fish, and quiet rivers are your thing, now is a great time to book a trip for fall.

Green River
There are still a ton of good fishing options available on the Green right now. The Warren Bridge access is in perfect shape for wade fishing, and there are still numerous float options below Daniel. Chubbies, ants, and beetles have still been getting a lot of looks. Hoppers along grassy banks are also producing some fish. Adding a dropper is working really well under the larger foam bugs. Look for fish in the riffles and along deeper banks, but don't overlook the deeper slots in the middle of the river. If we see a bump in flows, watch for fish moving into more protected water.

Flies to try
Sparkling Flying Ant, FKA Prince, Super Beetle
New Fork River
The New Fork has been a solid option lately. We are still seeing good BWO and trico hatches with pods of fish feeding on them in the slower water. Chubbies and terrestrials with droppers are producing good numbers of fish. With this cool weather, getting streamers down in the deep holes will get you a shot at some stud fish hanging down deep. Deeper sections seem to be the best spot for finding fish right now, but if you see a pod of risers, drifting a small single dry down to them will likely be rewarded with an eat.

Flies to try
Martian Mayfly, Tung Tied, Barely Legal
Seedskadee
Conditions below Fontenelle Dam have remained pretty consistent. We have not been catching large numbers of fish in this section, but we have found some big fish. Surface action is pretty minimal with the occasional eat on a foam pattern and some trico hatches in the morning. Nymphing with scuds and small mayfly nymphs has been the most productive method. With the weather turning cooler, streamer fishing should start to pick up.
