NOTICE: MONITOR WATER TEMPERATURES
It’s August, and that means terrestrial fishing will soon be the king once again. We are still seeing a mix of types of bugs and techniques to trick them, but more and more, the ants, beetles and hoppers are starting to dominate the days. Fish will likely be sitting in the deeper runs or under structure in the shade during the middle of the day as it has still gotten a bit warm toward mid-afternoon.

Recent Reports
Green River
The Green has been fishing well, especially in the Warren Bridge area. Hoppers are out in the river, and we have had a few really good days on those. Black caddis have still been hatching in the evening so keep an eye out for heads after 4:00p.m. Some yellow sallies have been hatching as well so smaller stone fly patterns have proven productive.

Flies to try
Clipped Head Hopper, Silverman’s Para-sally, Missing Link Caddis
New Fork River
The New Fork has been good, especially down low. The water is low, so finding stretches that have some water is key. There has been minimal hopper activity, but the fish are still eating on top. Yellow sallies have been coming off, and flying ants and beetles tucked against a bank have been great.

Flies to try
Galloup’s Working Girl, Green River Flying Ant, Jake’s Gulp Beetle
Seedskadee
The Green below Fontenelle has been fishing well throughout, but when you reach some of the far reaches of the river, it does start getting warm in the afternoons. Big foam is still fishing well, with a few terrestrials making an appearance as of late. Larger hopper patterns with a dropper have been the most productive.

Flies to try
Morrish Hopper, Lucent Perdigon, Circus Peanut
Bighorn River
The Bighorn River in Thermopolis has seen the end of the big flush, and most of the grass is gone. Tricos and PMDs are still coming off for parts of the morning, and you can do well on hoppers when the fish aren’t active on the surface. Small streamers and nymphs will get the job done in the tougher parts of the afternoon.
